DJ Skinny: "You're such a chameleon. When you're
filling in for a downtempo DJ, you spin like you're Peter Kruder; the next
night, you're John Acquaviva for a techno show. It's impressive." The
first half an hour of this set was dub and dub techno because, well, I wanted
to play that. The second half, however, had a more interesting theme, namely:
a radio and internet mix show that I've been following for some years, Variety
Is The Spice of Life on WMUC-FM College Park, MD. http://www.varietyisthespice.com/
host Christine Moritz has been offered a residency at Eighteenth Street Lounge
(http://www.eslmusic.com/) in DC this
weekend, so with this week marking her first regular appearance I thought
it'd be appropriate to do a set in the theme of her signature style. Upon
hearing the set, she described it as a "Minority Report version"
of her show so I think I can be happy with the somewhat less funky and fun
impersonation I did. Check out her show on Monday nights for the real thing,
though.
Negative Space was Emir's show.
